In the middle of Värmland, Sweden, 100 km north of Värmlands kapitol, is our cottage situated. Kullen (the hill) is surrounded by overwhelming nature, beautiful lakes and forrests. Experience the silence! Here you can héar squirrels gathering their winterstock, the swallows circle above your head and hare flutter in the bushes. You’ll possibly stumble on an elk (regularly in the neighbourhood) or roe (take your camera on hikes!) and see a fox on the run. It’s started!
Experience the unknown quiet and space in this fairytail-like, untouched surroundings. Long stralls, finding chantarelles and porcini, picking blueberries, making a treehouse, swimming, fishing or simply go out on a boat trip: everything is possible here. With a good book in the shade or sunshine in the garden, with the company of only the birds, everyone finds his peace.
Closeby the house lies a big lake, Deglunden.Here we have a boat waiting for our guests. Paddles and lifejackets you’ll find in the barn.Pack a picknickbasket and paddle down the lake, throw out a line and grill your catch on the barbeque in the garden.
Värmland (warm land!) has a land climate, with long warm summers. Swaying rye, blooming lupines and the odeur of lilacs everywere, make the long days filled with sun unforgetable. The crispy cold winters with fresh snow and starry skies make you want to build a fire inside. In the cosy kitchen there is room enough for everyone to gather and play some game. Koppla av (relax) is the keyword!
On Klarälven, Swedens longest river, beavers are active, fish is swimming and the shores are perfect for a picknick or a crisp dip. Why not rent or build a raft? An adventure one not easily forgets!
Only 10 km away is Hagfors situated. a small country town with all the necessary shops for daily groceries.Restaurants, a swimming pool and a library and numeral souvenir shops, its all there. For real shopping, Karlstad is a must: a wonderful city with trendy shops and life music on the many outdoor lunchrooms.
Kullen is a house from over 100 years old, comfortably decorated for 4 people. As a summerhouse, but also in wintertime. After consideration it’s always possible to place a 5th bed. The big cosy kitchen has a woodstove where meals can be prepared or just lite a crackling fire. You’ll find wood in the woodshed. We appreciate that you complement the wood stock by logging your muscles loose. Less adventurous guests can off course use the electric cooker. Fridge and microwave are present, as well as coffeemaker and watercooker.
In the intimate livingroom you’ll find a sofa and comfortable chair. The kakelugn (tile oven) is suited for making a warm fire. In the cupboard we keep games and books. A televisionset is present, but we don’t expect you to use this very often…
Even the small but fully equiped bathroom is situated downstairs, with a shower, toilet, handbasin and a washing machine.
The first floor is divided into 2 bedrooms, of which the largest one contains a double bed, the smaller room has 2 single beds. In the corridor a third single bed can be placed. Pillows and blankets are available. It is possible to rent bedlinnen.
On the porch you can enjoy your afternoon drink. Under the trees you’ll find a large table and chairs for outside meals. Furthermore there is a roasting spot where you can cook and grill the found treasures. Bikes for a cross country tour are standing in the shed.
